Our Beliefs

The Bible

The sixty six books of the Bible form the Word of God, the complete revelation of God to man, which is inspired and infallible, and is our final authority in all matters of faith and practice.

The Godhead

There is one true and living God who is eternally self existent, personal spirit in nature, infinite in power, wisdom, holiness and love, all powerful, all knowing, everywhere present, unchangeable, triunein being and revealed to us through the Scriptures as Father, Son and Holy Spirit.

The Lord Jesus

Christ Jesus of Nazareth, as revealed in the Scriptures, is God the Son, the second person of the Godhead, one with the Father, equal in power and glory, the Saviour of mankind, the promised Messiah and Christ, the personal revelation of God to man, conceived by the Holy Spirit and born of the virgin Mary, the perfectly united and sinless embodiment of divinity and humanity, who in his death, burial and resurrection became the Lamb of God, the perfect sacrifice offered for the sins of the world, who presently intercedes for believers and who will come again in glory to judge and reign over all the earth.

Creation

The universe was created by God out of nothing through his Word in six literal days for his honour, glory and pleasure, as recorded in Genesis and authenticated by Jesus Christ in the New Testament. We reject the notion of evolution and affirms that all forms of life on earth were created by God to self perpetuate “after their kind”.

Satan

Satan is a created being, a fallen angel, who initially held an exalted position but who fell through the sin of pride, was cast out of heaven, along with his cohorts of rebellion, and became an opposing force against God and the rest of God’s creation, including mankind. Satan’s doom is foretold and sealed, but meanwhile he is allowed by God to operate actively within the spiritual sphere of the world, and is known in Scripture as the “prince of the power of the air”, against whose crafty devices believers are warned to stand and to be vigilant.

Man

In the beginning God created Adam in His likeness, for His glory, pleasure and fellowship. God also created Eve from Adam to be his companion, and they two were to be one in holy union. They then sinned and fell from their original state of perfection to being sinners in need of salvation, and there by also brought corruption into the world, which passed inherently to all mankind. Apart from God’s grace in salvation through Jesus Christ mankind is helpless and hopeless.

Salvation

Salvation is the work of God in restoring lost mankind to His fellowship. It is accomplished by God’s grace in the person and work of the Lord Jesus Christ who became our substitute on the cross, not by any effort or merit on the part of people. Salvation is offered by God to all mankind who by personal faith alone believe and receive His gift of eternal life.  The Holy Spirit is the agent whereby the sinner is convicted of sin and drawn to Christ, and makes effectual the believer’s new birth into the family of God, whereupon the believer is forevermore justified in Christ and sealed unto the day of redemption.

Sanctification

Sanctification is God’s plan and process for every born again believer to be changed into the image of Christ. It involves the aspects of positional sanctification, which is the believer’s standing in Christ, progressive sanctification, which is the ongoing work of God in the life of the believer, and perfect sanctification, which will be the believer’s ultimate state in heavenly glorification.

Separation

The distinction and separation of the kingdom of God from the kingdoms of this world is a major doctrinal the me throughout Scripture. Therefore Christian believers are urged to maintain their personal witness as ambassadors for Christ, shining as lights in a dark world, being in the world but not of the world.

The Church

The church universal is the collective entity of all believers who through faith in Christ have been born again by the Spirit of God, and called out from the world. The local church is a group of such believers meeting locally for worship, fellowship and service, being are presentation of the body of Christ, who is the Head and cornerstone of the church. Believers are commanded in the Scriptures to assemble on a regular basis, to celebrate the Lord’s table, to baptise new believers, to encourage each other in the Lord, to rehearse and uphold Bible truth, to recognise spiritual gifts and callings, appoint leaders, to collect and distribute gifts to the needy and generally support the cause of the great commission of Jesus Christ.

The Family

The family is the first divinely appointed institution and the basic unit of human society, stemming from the holy marriage union between a man and his wife. Our church affirms the sanctity of marriage and the importance of supporting the family unit after the Biblical pattern.

The Future

In the Bible God has revealed to us his plan for the future. According to His promise, Jesus Christ will return personally for His Bride the Church before the coming time of tribulation on earth.

The Baptism of Believers Only by Immersion

Baptism is an ordinance of the Lord Jesus Christ. It is a public declaration of a person’s faith in Jesus Christ as Lord and Saviour. In accordance with New Testament Scripture it should be administered only by total immersion which symbolises the believer’s identification with Christ in death, burial and resurrection, the remission of sins and the believer’s dedication of himself to God to live and walk in newness of life.

Communion

The Lord’s Supper is an ordinance of the Lord Jesus Christ instituted by Him to be celebrated with the elements of bread and wine by believers in Christ until the end of the age. It commemorates and declares our thanks for the Lord’s substitutionary death. The celebration of the ordinance expresses our fellowship with and in the Lord Jesus Christ as members of the Body of which He is the Head.
